‘The Adventures of Michael Fane’. Will be followed up with ‘The further Adventures of Michael Fane and Captain Blood’s Pirates’ - The Sea Hawk gets a name change to ‘The Sea Wolf’ - with all ‘New Pirate Tales’ including one of the goriest executions ever devised! The book will be published during the summer of 2009.
‘The Adventures of Michael Fane’ is selling Worldwide -
The story is not for the feint hearted, as it is based on the Monmouth Rebellion of 1685, which led to ‘The Bloody Assize’. The tale begins in the Courtroom of Judge George Jeffreys at the Taunton Assize. Michael Fane is charged with ‘Murder and High Treason’. There can only be one of two outcomes: Innocent, or Guilty. If found guilty, Michael faces being hung, drawn and quartered. Unbeknown to Michael, King James II wants a far more painful blood letting and wishes to make an example of him that would deter a further Protestant uprising. He is aware of the risks of doing so, as lying in wait are the armies of Prince William of Orange. Michael is one of the only people alive who knows what really happened to James Scott, the Duke of Monmouth. King James II cannot risk the truth getting out!
Some historical alterations have been made.
In my novel John Churchill takes his troops to Holland and battles the French. In reality he defected later.
Percy Kirke is executed by Simon Lovelock - and that I did because he deserved it!
Adventure, battles, and graphic torture as we join Michael and Daniel Defoe, Peter Blood and others in ‘The adventures of Michael Fane’.
The book has already been highlighted on Radio Cambridge and I will be doing more live interviews during 2009.
